Become a Disciplined Student of
the Whole Word
“It is vital that Christians
become disciplined students
of the whole Word of
God.”
I have both seen and heard an
internationally-known Christian minister say that
“he is a god.” I have also both seen and
heard another internationally-known minister say that
there is no need to minister the gospel to Jewish
people because they are taken care of under the old
covenant. There are multitudes of Christians presently
following ministers who are proclaiming teachings that
are not in line with the Word of truth. False teaching
from sincere teachers is more rampant in the Church
than sexual sin and is harder to discern, expose, and
remove.
False teaching in the Church is
harder to discern, expose, and remove because most
Christians are guilty of one of two things: they either
do not study the whole Word of God, or they read
man’s doctrines and traditions into the Word
while reading it. Both of these are serious mistakes
with serious consequences. One major consequence is
that, over the centuries, Satan has taken advantage of
these weaknesses by infiltrating the Church with false,
carnal, and immature ministers. Other major
consequences include personal immaturity of many
Christians, overall immaturity of the Church, and
Church division rather than unity. (You better believe
that people will not like me for saying this.)
It is vital that Christians become
disciplined students of the whole Word of God. They
must repent of not knowing truth because they are not
students of the Word. They must repent of reading
man’s doctrines and interpretations into the Word
because it makes truth of no effect. They must begin
studying the Word of truth under the guidance and
teaching of the Holy Spirit, and they must no longer be
guilty of reading their preconceived notions, ideas,
opinions, and doctrines into the Word. They must yield
their minds and hearts to the Holy Spirit and give
themselves to studying the Word. Those who will
faithfully continue in the study of the whole Word of
God under the direction of the Holy Spirit will begin
to prove themselves to be disciples indeed (John 8:
31-32). The Holy Spirit will make sure that they come
to know truth. Truth known and continued in always sets
free! It sets one free from personal immaturity and
trains one’s senses to discern the state of
ministers within the Church (Hebrews 5:12-14).
Will you be one who will begin to
study the Word and hide it in your heart? If you are
already a student of the Word, will you step up in your
study? Let’s purify ourselves with the washing of
the water of the Word, and let’s expect ministers
to preach the Word and the Word only. Let’s
return to Scripture alone. Let’s make the Word
the authority that God intends for it to be, and
let’s allow it to wash each of us and the Church
as a whole free from man’s doctrines and
traditions.
