Recognize the Need for Unity
“The Lord wants to be one
with us, and He wants us to be one with each
other.”
I have ministered many times that
there is a major problem in the modern Church
concerning unity. The problem is that, rather than
being unified, the Church is in a state of division and
disunity. Jesus Christ is building His Church, and He
wants her to be one with Him and with each other. His
heart is grieved over the present condition of His
Church, especially over her division and disunity.
The heart of the word that I am
bringing in this message is that there must be
disciples who will open their eyes to see what the Lord
sees and open their hearts to feel what He feels. Will
you be one who opens your eyes and heart to the Lord?
Will you recognize and acknowledge the need for unity
and then submit yourself to the Holy Spirit to do what
is necessary to bring it about? The Spirit of the Lord
is looking for disciples, including ministers
(especially including ministers), who will recognize
the problem and take urgent action to correct it.
The problem can be corrected. We
must believe that it can be corrected, but it must
first be acknowledged. It must be acknowledged by
ministers and members of the body of Christ. The
problem must not only be acknowledged, it must be
recognized as an urgent situation. It must be more than
a mental recognition and acknowledgement. It must be
felt in the heart. After acknowledging the problem and
the urgency thereof, action must be taken. I will
address that in the future. In this message, I am
emphasizing the need for recognizing the need for
unity. The recognizing includes seeing the need,
acknowledging the need, and feeling what the Lord feels
about it.
Will you ask the Lord to open your
eyes and give you His heart concerning the unity of His
Church? Will you ask Him to write on your mind and
heart the prayer found in John 17? If you will pray fervently and
earnestly, His Spirit will open your eyes and give you
the Lord’s heart for unity. The Lord wants to be
one with us, and He wants us to be one with each other.
Seek God until you feel it deep down inside, and then
continue seeking Him until it becomes a reality within
His body. Unity, come to the Church. Unity, come
soon to the Church! The Lord bless you. Amen.

BIBLICAL APPLICATION:
I have given them the glory that
you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in
them and you in me. May they be brought to complete
unity to let the world know that you sent me and have
loved them even as you have loved me. John 17:22-23 NIV
