TRIED BY FIRE - Part V
“It seems the knowledge of
future accountability helped motivate Paul
to live
a life that was well pleasing to God.”
I hope that each of you has not
only closely studied our messages about the judgment
seat of Christ this week, but that you have also
searched the Scriptures to verify their accuracy. Many
Christians are not presently preparing to be judged.
Why? There are many reasons for this lack of
preparation, but I will only mention two in this
message. The first reason is that most Christians have
not been taught the truth about the judgment seat of
Christ, and the second reason is that we are living in
a day when “cheap grace” is prevalent in
much of the Church.
Today, I encourage you to study 2
Corinthians 5:9-11. In verse 9, Paul teaches that
disciples of Jesus Christ are to make it their aim to
be well pleasing to God in all that they do. To help
motivate true Christians to live such a life, he adds
in verse 10 that all true believers in Christ must
appear before the judgment seat of Christ to receive
the things done in the body, according to what they
have done, whether good or bad. It seems the knowledge
of future accountability helped motivate Paul to live a
life that was well pleasing to God. What about you?
Does that knowledge help to motivate you?
You may be among the few who have
not only been taught about the judgment seat of Christ,
but have studied it personally. I hope so! If not, I
trust that what we have written this week has given you
some insight about our future appointment, and also
serves as an encouragement to do more study. Most of
all, I desire that the Holy Spirit gives you truth and
understanding, motivates you to draw closer to the Lord
Jesus and live in reverence to Him, and inspires you to
live a life that glorifies Him in all you do. Submit to
Him and He will prepare you! He will rejoice with you
on rewards day. Hallelujah! Praise be to God!

BIBLICAL APPLICATION:
For the grace of God, which can
save every man, has now become known, and it teaches us
to have no more to do with godlessness or the desires
of this world but to live, here and now, responsible,
honourable and God-fearing lives. And while we live
this life we hope and wait for the glorious
dénouement of the Great God and of Jesus
Christ our Saviour. For He gave Himself for us all,
that He might rescue us from all our evil ways and make
for Himself a people of his own, clean and pure, with
our hearts set upon living a life that is good. Titus 2:11-14 JBP
