THE PARABLE OF THE REVEALED LIGHT
Today, I will address the parable
of the revealed light and apply it to present-day
Christians. Many Christians are somewhat familiar with
the parable of the sower, but few are familiar with the
parable of the revealed light, especially its meaning.
The parable of the sower addresses the type of heart
for receiving truth that different Christians have,
whereas the parable of revealed light is an appeal by
our Lord Jesus for spiritual perception.
In a nutshell, the Lord is saying
that those who receive truth and become faithful doers
of it will receive more spiritual revelation of Jesus
and His Word. Those who do not receive and/or act upon
His Word in faith will not only miss out on future
spiritual revelation and knowledge of Jesus and His
Word, but they are subject to losing what they have
already received. Let’s apply this to the Holy
Spirit. If someone has an experience with the Holy
Spirit and then rejects or backs away from that
experience, they are subject to losing what they have
experienced and are in danger of not receiving future
spiritual understanding of God’s Word. They may
have brilliant minds, great oratory skills, and be able
to astound people with their intellectual knowledge of
God’s Word that has been learned from
intellectual studies, but they will be limited in
spiritual understanding and anointing. The Church
abounds with such people, including preachers.
Those who sit under preachers and
associate themselves with those who have rejected
revealed light are also in great danger of experiencing
the limitation, or loss, of their spiritual perception.
They may really love God and truly be born again, but
their spiritual perception is limited until they repent
and seek the Lord for the spirit of wisdom and
revelation in the knowledge of Him. I believe that many
Christians, if they want to go on to maturity in
Christ, will have to make a choice as to whether they
remain where they are unless some preachers do some
quick repenting.
A close study of Paul’s
letters to the Church at Ephesus shows that they had
received a great revelation of Jesus and His Church.
Paul even addressed them as “faithful in Jesus
Christ.” Further study in Revelation chapter two,
however, may bring one to the conclusion that somewhere
along the way they rejected some part of truth. They
abounded in good works but were coming up short in what
was most important to the Head of the Church, their
love for Jesus Christ. Paul’s closing words to
the Ephesians could have been a warning to them had
they perceived it. “Grace
(God's undeserved favor) be with all who love our Lord
Jesus Christ with undying and incorruptible
[love].” (Eph. 6:
24 AMP)
Many Christians are so happy in
church, with their opportunities to participate in
various programs, activities, etc., that they are blind
to what is being preached. They are also often very
biblically illiterate and are limited in their
spiritual perception! At the Judgment Seat of Christ,
they are not going to be judged primarily by their
involvement in activities, but by the Word and their
obedience to it.
I believe that we are in a season
when the wind of the Spirit is blowing, but the storms
of the devil are brewing as well. The Holy Spirit is
calling Christians, including preachers, to humble
themselves before God and to repent and turn away from
anything that is not of God. This includes turning away
from any doctrines that are not God ordained; these
limit the body of Christ from accomplishing her
God-given work on earth. We cannot separate ourselves
from other churches and groups and say that we are in
right relationship. The truth is that we are all
connected. The Church is to be one body, and we are all
as strong as our weakest link.
Let this be a warning to any who
claim to be children of light. If we don't respond
properly to what God reveals to us, our spiritual
maturity and effectiveness will be hindered.
Let’s get out from under the bushel and let
God’s truth shine in, upon, and through us. Amen
and Amen!

BIBLICAL APPLICATION:
But the seed on good soil stands
for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the
word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
"No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or
puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so
that those who come in can see the light. For there is
nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing
concealed that will not be known or brought out into
the open. Therefore consider carefully how you listen.
Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have,
even what he thinks he has will be taken from
him." Luke 8:
