ARE YOU A BRIGHT LIGHT FOR CHRIST?
I could begin this message by
saying that there is very little difference in most
church members and the world. I could even add that
many church members like to hide behind such sayings
as, “The difference in us and the world is that
we are saved sinners.” Instead I will begin by
asking you personally a couple of questions. What is
the difference in you and the world? Are you shining
continuously as a bright light for Jesus Christ?
The Holy Spirit teaches students
of the Word that Jesus, the Messiah, intends that His
disciples be the light of the world (Matthew 5:14-16).
Disciples of Jesus are in the world to be the light of
the world and not to be of the world. They are always
to be light to the world and are never to hide their
light by being like the world.
Many parts of the present-day
Church are not creating good examples for their
members. They are acting, dressing, and talking like
the world, all in the name of relating, and they are
producing members who do the same. Many church members
already have trouble overcoming the temptations of the
world and the cares of life. If their church is acting
like the world, what chance do they have to become
overcomers of the world? If they cannot become
overcomers of the world, how can they ever be light to
the world?
I will continue to encourage
anyone who desires to be a real disciple of the Lord
Jesus to prayerfully study the parable of the sower and
to ask the Lord to make you a fruitful disciple. Commit
your heart, soul, mind, and strength; commit your all,
to the Lord. He will, by His Spirit and His Word, make
you a bright light for Him and His kingdom. If there is
anything that I can do, I am always available. God
bless you!

BIBLICAL APPLICATION:
You are the light of the world. A
city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do
they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a
lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the
house. Let your light so shine before men, that they
may see your good works and glorify your Father in
heaven. Matthew 5:
14-16 NKJV
Do not love or cherish the world or
the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the
world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that
is in the world--the lust of the flesh [craving for
sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy
longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance
in one's own resources or in the stability of earthly
things]--these do not come from the Father but are from
the world [itself]. And the world passes away and
disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the
passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does
the will of God and carries out His purposes in his
life abides (remains) forever.
