SURRENDER LEADS TO UNITY
The heart of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ longs to be in close communion with all of
the members of His body; He desires to personally walk
in fellowship with all of His disciples. His heart also
longs to see His disciples walk in fellowship with one
another.
Do you desire to draw closer to
the Lord? Do you desire to walk in the unity of faith
with all true disciples of the Lord? If so, realize
that these two desires cannot be separated. To walk
intimately with the Head of the body is to walk in the
unity of faith with His body. Also realize that it can
only be fully accomplished by yielding all of your
heart to the Lord. There can be no holding back.
To walk in unity with the Lord and
one another requires a work of the Spirit in our
hearts.
Until we surrender our hearts to
the Lord, we will never be able to be totally one with
the Lord, and neither will we be able to unite in faith
with our fellow disciples in Christ.
If these words convict one to
pursue true Spirit-led examination of their heart, they
may have to acknowledge that many years have passed and
they have not yet truly surrendered their heart to the
Lord. If that be the case, I want to remind you of the
importance of remembering that God loves you. What
matters most to your heavenly Father and your Lord
Jesus is that you now make the choice to surrender your
heart to the Lord. When you make that choice, all of
heaven will be there to help you.
The Lord is looking for disciples
who will not only draw close to Him, but will be in the
unity of faith with their brothers and sisters in
Christ (not just those in their group). The Holy Spirit
has been sent by our heavenly Father and by our Savior
and Lord Jesus to help us do God's will on earth. To do
our part in accomplishing His will on earth requires
not only intimacy with the Lord, but the unity of faith
with each other. This will require full surrender to
the Lord, full surrender to His heart because it is
beyond our abilities to accomplish! It is possible and
will be a reality for those who respond. The Holy
Spirit stands ready to prepare the hearts of those who
will respond. He stands ready to pull us through to
full surrender. He stands ready to lead us to the place
of being one with the Lord and one with each other.
Full surrender is all that is required!
