Preparation by Unity
“The Lord's Word teaches us
that God wants to
walk closely with His
family.”
One can be born of God and not
live in close fellowship with Him. Most of us have
witnessed in natural families that, though related by
blood, relatives are not always walking in fellowship
with one another. Regretfully, what is true for some
natural families is also true for some members of God's
family, the Church. Many Christians are not presently
walking in close fellowship with one another or with
God.
When anyone is born again through
faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the
cross, they immediately have a relationship with God.
It is the will and desire of God for that relationship
to grow to a place of unity with God as well as with
the body of Christ. For disciples who desire to be
close to God and each other, there are some key words
that would be helpful to study and meditate on. These
key words are relationship, fellowship, communion, abiding and intimacy. It is important to understand that
there is a progression from relationship to intimacy.
It has been said that some married couples grow to a
place of intimacy where they almost know what each
other is thinking. Isn't that wonderful to even think
about? It is possible for a man and woman to grow
closer together, and it is possible for God's family to
grow closer to Him and each other.
The Lord's Word teaches us that
God wants to walk closely with His family. The Word
says that, if we seek God, we will find Him, and it
says that, if we will draw near to Him, He will draw
near to us. Do you desire with all of your heart to
walk closely with God and with His family? While
writing this, I heard in my spirit that there is a
connection between the prayer of Jesus recorded in John
17 and the words we read in Revelation 19:7. In John
17, shortly before HIs crucifixion, Jesus is crying out
to His Heavenly Father for His disciples to be one with
Him and His Father and with each other. In Revelation
19:7, we see through the eyes of God that the Church,
the bride of Christ, has made herself ready for the
marriage of the Lamb. A very important part of our
preparation for the marriage of the Lamb is in our
becoming one with God and each other. It is so very
important! Will you have ears to hear, and will you
give yourself to all of the preparation that is
necessary so that it can be said of you that you are
one with God and with His family? Glory be to God!

BIBLICAL APPLICATION:
And you shall love the Lord your
God out of and with your whole heart and out of and
with all your soul (your life) and out of and with all
your mind (with your faculty of thought and your moral
understanding) and out of and with all your strength.
This is the first and principal commandment. The second
is like it and is this, You shall love your neighbor as
yourself. There is no other commandment greater than
these. Mark 12:
