EXPANDING YOUR VISION
“One's understanding of
Scripture is limited until the eyes
of their
understanding are opened.”
Most members of the body of Christ
would do well to have their vision of what it means to
be a Christian vastly expanded. Expanded vision is
directly related to the opening of one's eyes of
understanding (Eph. 1:17-19). A classic biblical
example is the encounter our risen Savior had with two
of His followers on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35).
The two men were undoubtedly already familiar with the
Scriptures, but they lacked understanding. Jesus opened
their eyes of understanding, and He opened the
Scriptures concerning Himself to them.
One's understanding of Scripture
is limited until the eyes of their understanding are
opened. In John 20:22, it is written that Jesus
breathed new life into the disciples who were gathered
with Him. Acts 1:3 teaches us that the resurrected
Christ spent time teaching those same disciples about
the kingdom of God. But verse six of Acts One reveals
that their understanding of the kingdom of God was
still limited because they held on to their
nationalistic view of the kingdom.
It was time for Jesus to ascend
into heaven, so He told them to wait for the Promise of
the Father, and the power they would receive when the
Holy Spirit came upon them. The power of the Holy
Spirit would enable them to be bold witnesses of Jesus
Christ and the kingdom of God, as well as giving them
power to heal the sick and cast out demons. The power
of the Holy Spirit would also begin to open their eyes
of understanding and give them revelation of the
Scriptures. The Holy Spirit would guide them into all
truth.
The power of the Holy Spirit can
free people from satanic bondage to sickness and
disease. It can drive out demons from people, and it
can set the minds of people free from misconceptions
about Jesus and His Word. The Holy Spirit works with
true and mature ministers to give revelation and
understanding of the Word to humble students of the
Word.
Do you want your vision expanded?
Have you been breathed on by Jesus Christ? Have you
waited for the Promise of the Father until you received
Him and the power He brings when He comes? Have you
found true apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors,
and teachers to equip you in the Word concerning Jesus
and the kingdom of God? If so, you are on the path to
having an expanded vision. The Holy Spirit will join
you with others who are on the same path. This will
eventually result in a restored Church all to the glory
of Christ.

[I pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom
and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of
your understanding being enlightened; that you may know
what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of
the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is
the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who
believe …
